Workshops General Installing REFLEX Models

Installing REFLEX Models

E-mail Print PDF

What skill do I need to install models and demo-flights ?

E-mail Print PDF

You should be familiar with your Windows operating system; mainly you should know how to copy files.

In case the files are compressed you should be familiar with any decompression tool.

And, of course, you should be familiar with your REFLEX

What else do I need?

If you have installed REFLEX, you normally have all you need: PC, Operating System, REFLEX and the model files you want to install.

What file types are there?

REFLEX does distinguish the files according to the Window fily types:

PAR-File (Model parameters), can be modifies with (F5) and (F11).
MySuperHeli.par

MOD-File (Model appearance)
MySuperHeli.mod

WAV-File (Sound), here REFLEX differs between the WAV-File for the Idle-sound
MySuperHeliMotor_.wav
and the WAV-File for the "Full Throttle" sound
MySuperHeliMotor.wav

DMO-File (Demo-Flight, recorded Flights)
MySuperHeliFlug.dmo

Where do I install the files?

In REFLEX the files for Helicopters and Fixed Wings, as well as Demo-Flight are distinguished and stored in different folders.

Helicopters: ….REFLEXHeli

Fixed Wings: ….REFLEXAircraft

Demo-Flights: ….REFLEXDemo

There can be also additional sub-folders for Helis and Fixed Wings, to get a better order.

EDIT by Higgy :

The new REFLEX version now installs the files in a Vista compatible way (Windows Request)

Wherever REFLEX was installed, it has created a folder in C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Appication Data\REFLEX Simulator

There are the folders where all the Sceneries and models must be stored

How can I allocate a "look" or a sound to a model?

REFLEX doesn't care how a model looks or how it sounds. Therefore you can freely modify it. Only if the *.PAR, *.MOD and *.WAV file have the same name they are allocated automatically.

To allocate the "Look" (.MOD file) and the sound (.WAV file) to a model (.PAR file) you can change the model parameters by pressing "F5" function key.

In our picture we allocated the „Sceadu EVO.mod“ in folder  "…REFLEXHIROBO" and the sound files  „os50.wav“ and „os50_.wav“ in folder "…REFLEXThunder Tiger"

To keep the order you should now save the model (:PAR) in the folder where the ".MOD" file is

In our example this is the folder "... REFLEX\HIROBO

How do I install a demo flight?

The recorded flights (.DMO file) are simply stored in the "...REFLEX\DEMO" folder and can be diplayed in the flight recorder (F9)
